How to spot a Liar

Most of this guide I admit is a bit of common sense, but it has been my experience that what may be obvious to some is not so much for others. For instance, It was just last year I realized that granola didn't occur naturally and that it was a combination of oats and honey. It blew my mind.

I don't do any of those things, when I lie my hands begin to sweat.

There's always facial reactions, just watch Lie to Me. It's over exaggerated, but the science does exist.

actually a lot of those things aren't 100% correct, a lot of them are false tells. If someone wants to lie to you and they're good at it, none of those things will happen because they're thinking about what you're thinking, not about what they should say. The only purely correct tell is a slight change in pitch in voice, but its so minuscule that people cannot typically tell.

it is hard to tell but what you have to look for is flaws in the story like ti says, good post :)

they're useful sometimes, but when people have some nervous habits and they're just scared witless, they'll do some of those things while they're being questioned

There are definitely obvious signs when people lie. Good liers know how to hide these signs though.

You can usually tell when a smile is fake by looking into the person's eyes. If they're not squished or squinted, it's probably a "polite" smile.

Well you can go a bit deeper and if you're serious about it, you can go into reading some books on cold reading and body language that might help you go along the way a bit more successfully.
