Top 3 Casual Sneakers That Will Never Go Out of Style

Good old Chuck Taylor's.  If I had to define America by a shoe, Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars would easily be that shoe. No other shoe has ever been so diverse, you can find them on senior citizens, break dancers, hipsters, young people, old people, geeks, elitists, teachers, punk rockers, jocks, and everyone in between.  They come in a massive variety of colors and  patterns to suit anybody's style, from laid back professional to grungy rocker.

Adidas Superstars are classic.  Keep them white and clean and there is nothing you cannot wear them with.  Everyone from John Cusack to Lil BowWow can be seen sporting these and that's no surprise considering its universally iconic and minimalistic style.

The Puma Suede like the other shoes that made my list are incredibly diverse.  All these shoes have been around the block more than a few times and still held there own and I have have every reason to think that these shoes will never go out of style.  Fads may come and go, but these shoes are timeless.

North Korea shells South Korean island

This could be it guys , better get ready

"A witness said residents of the island of Yeonpyeong, off the west coast of the peninsula near a disputed maritime border, had been evacuated.
Yonhap news agency said four South Korean soldiers had been wounded in the shelling, the biggest attack in years.
YTN television quoted a witness as saying 60 to 70 houses were on fire after the shelling and TV footage showed plumes of smoke coming from the island. It said a South Korean fighter jet had been deployed to the west coast after the shelling.
"Houses and mountains are on fire and people are evacuating. You can't see very well because of plumes of smoke," a witness on the island told YTN.
"People are frightened to death and shelling continues as we speak," the witness said.
News of the exchange of fire sent the won tumbling in offshore markets with the 1-month won down in NDF trading.
The impact was felt internationally, with U.S. 10-year Treasury futures rising and the Japanese yen falling.
South Korea's military confirmed the exchange of firing, without providing more details.
The attack comes just as a U.S. envoy is traveling to the region after revelations that the North is moving ahead with uranium enrichment, a possible second path to manufacture material for atomic weapons."

4 reasons to use tire chains this year

So I was out and about today, picking up a few odds and ends at my local Wallyworld, when I saw the seasonal display of artificial Christmas tree's prequipped with lights and ornaments, all thoughtfully arranged and accented with tinsel and beautifully designed to give you that feeling of semi-synthetic holiday cheer. At that moment It hit me abruptly like a brick in the face, winter is coming.

The feeling of dread rushed through my body as If I had just shot an IV full of tiny shards of glass in the biggest vain in my neck.  Now please don't take me for a Grinch, I love the holidays, honestly I am festive like a mofo, I just would like them to occur during a warmer time of the year.  Winter means chapped lipped, dry skin, heating bills, snow shoveling, bitterly cold morning ( which are always coldest when you have to get straight out of bet), congestion, missing gloves, and most terribly winter driving.

Tire chains are just what they sound like, metal linked chains affixed to the tires of vehicles in order to provide traction when driving through snow and ice and are a great alternative to snow tires and in my opinion are the better option for winter conditions for several reasons:
  1. Cost :Tire chains can cost anywhere from 30 to 150 dollars a set where snow tires start at around 65 and could cost your well into a few hundred dollars.
  2. Convenience: Its either gonna cost you a pretty penny or a few hours to install snow tires while decent quality tire chains ( like the Grip pictured at the begging of the this post ) can be installed in just a few moments, meaning you can take them on and off when needed.
  3. Portability: Tire chains can be stored in your glove box or trunk easily they hardly take up any room, making them easy to always have on hand .
  4. Better Traction in deeper snow, which is great if you live in a community like mine, where roads are not cleared right away if at all.

Tips on buying concert tickets

Here are a few tips of buying concert or sports event tickets

  1. If possible always buy your tickets at the box office , this way you will avoid any other fees that websites and ticket brokers will tack on.
  2. If your buying tickets online make sure the company you are buying them from is legit you don't want to get scammed on your Chicago Bull tickets.
  3. If you miss out on buying tickets check with the box office, a lot of times tickets are bought in groups and people have to return a few, its a long shot , but you may just get your Utah Jazz tickets that way.
  4. Check for group rates, if you have a party of 15 or 20 people going to see the Detriot Pistons, you will probaly get a discount on each ticket.
  5. Try to avoid using ticket brokers at all cost, they are in the business of supply and demand and will up charge ridiculously when tickets become unavailable for your Miami Heat tickets.
  6. If buying tickets on ebay, always make sure the check the sellers comments and ratings.
  7. I highly suggest not buying event tickets on craiglist, but if you do , make sure you have all the sellers contact info (Name, phone number (try and use this to get his address),facebook page, hopes and dreams, ect) this way if the deal goes sour or the tickets are not legit , you could try and pursue further action against him/her.

Speed Reading Tips

The internet is more popular and necessary now than ever, unlimited resources and information growing exponentially every second, its a beautiful thing really.  The benefits and possibilities are almost limitless.  It has entirely changed the way people learn, communicate and entertain themselves, in ways only dreamed of before.  We may not have flying cars or live in outer space, but we are living in a world The Jetson's couldn't even compare to.

With all this information available to us right in our living room or bedroom or even through or mobile phone or netbook it is more important than ever to be able to read and comprehend quickly because 90% of the internet is comprised of text.  Speed Reading is no doubt an invaluable skill that should be developed and constantly improved, even for those of us who just want to sort through our email.

Here are a few tips

  1. Time yourself - this doesn't have to be an official time just take not of how long it takes you to read maybe 1 page or so of text just so you can know if you are improving or not.
  2. Stop reading outloud or saying the words in your head, its a waste of time and once you stop doing it, you will see that you still comprehend just as much.
  3. Get rid of distractions
  4. Try not to reread, most people get in the habit of going back and rereading sentences to make sure they understood what they said, this is usually unnecessary and the further content of what you are reading will help you memory decide what you had read. Only reread sentences or passages when absolutely necessary.
  5. PRACTICE, speed reading is a skill that must be trained and developed. This can be achieved through speed reading software, reading novels, or even just be reading blogs such as this one, just try to focus on reading quickly and digesting the information (there is no point of reading faster than you can comprehend).

Hangover Remedies

hangover

Happy Halloween buddies.  I know most of you are probably heading out to Halloween parties tonight and with the horrid luck of Halloween falling on a Sunday this year you will probably have to work in the morning.  If your like me you will be suffering from a massive deadly hangover .  I have found that nothing instantly cures a hangover, but here are some tips to make it a little better:

  1. Drink water, you know damn well that a hangover is caused mostly by dehydration so get that water in you.
  2. Gatorade or Bullion water will help you replenish all that salt you lost and make you feel a bit better.
  3. ASPIRIN I don’t know why , but most of my friends and family like to ignore the fact that aspirin exists, anyway take 2 for your headache
  4. Eat a bagel or muffin or something starchy to absorb that nasty stuff in your guts and slow the alcohol absorption.
  5. Wait it out, it will only get better with time , I have never in my life found an instant hangover cure, your going to have to suffer for a bit.

Last Minute Bad Halloween Costume Ideas

 photo from wtfcomtsumes.com

So one of my eternally unprepared friends doesn't have a Halloween Costume for the party tonight ( big surprise ) so we have been looking online for last minute costume ideas ( he wore out the ninja last year ) so I we found this site with alot of really great and some redicolous last minute costume ideas

Here are some of our favorite bad ideas:

Carry a quarter and a hammer. What are you? A Quarter-pounder.

Wrap yourself in wrapping paper with a tag: "From: God, To: Women". What are you? God's gift to women.

Put a pot on your head. What are you? A pot head.

Wear all white. Attach (or paint) yellow circle to your stomach. You are an egg. Add horns and a pitchfork and you are a deviled egg.

Wear all white. Attach old cups, milk cartons etc to you. What are you? White trash.

For a couple: she dresses as a brick. You as a mason. What are you? A brick-layer.

Tie an old CD around your neck and carry a lighter. What are you? A CD burner? (DVDs work well too)

DIY ECA STACK (ephedrine, caffeine, and aspirin)

WHAT IS IT?

The ECA stack is a potent central nervous system (CNS) stimulant. The ingrediants work together synergistically, their combined effect is much greater than the effect of the individual components alone. The effects of the stack are: a major decrease in appetite, thermogenesis (creation of heat), which causes the body to burn more calories; and increased fat burning.

HRMM INTERESTING, WHY SHOULD I USE IT?

The ECA stack is very effective in combination of exercise and healthy diet in aiding in weight loss and fat loss in particular. It is a great way to help lose those extra pound, keep them off during the winter or for slimming down when bodybuilding.

OK HOW DO I MAKE IT, ISN'T EPHEDRINE BANNED?

Ephedrine is only banned as a dietary supplement , meaning it cannot be marketed for weight loss. Ephedrine itself can be bought online or at the gas station, but the cheapest and most simple way to get it is buying it in the form of Bronkaid or Primatene both which should be available at your local pharmacy or Walmart. You can buy generic caffeine and aspirin anywhere for just a few bucks.

25 mgs of ephedrine and 200 mgs of caffeine are the central ingredients of the stack, the aspirin helps the effects last longer. Most people suggest taking 325 mg of aspirin ( a normal aspirin) but I suggest taking a baby aspirin instead to lower the chance for side effects.

When it all comes down to it your going to be spending about half of what you would on most popular commercial weight loss products.

Take this stack 2 times a day and cycle 3 weeks on 1 week off.

Simple right?

DISCLAIMER :make sure to do your research and I am not responsible it you take 208230389038409384309mgs of ephedrine and have a heart attack

Google PageRank

So I must admit I am very new to blogging and have been doing quite a bit of research as of lately as to what makes a blog successful, and as I am sure some of you have noticed there is ALOT of information out there relating to SEO ( search engine optimization), so much so that is is almost overwhelming (ok completely overwhelming).  So when I came past this amazing infographic (and if you read my blog, I am sure you already know I have a hard-on for these things) about Google PageRank, I knew I had to share it, it really had summarized most of what took me hours to try to understand from about a million websites.  It's a little embarrassing to say that as of now I belong to the marching band, so I am gonna start shooting for the drama crowd.

How to spot a Liar

Most of this guide I admit is a bit of common sense, but it has been my experience that what may be obvious to some is not so much for others. For instance, It was just last year I realized that granola didn't occur naturally and that it was a combination of oats and honey. It blew my mind.

How not to overpay for car repairs

I for one am not exactly a "car guy" and every time I need a water pump replaced or timing belt repaired I head right on over to the nearest garage and turn over the keys to my beat up,old Ford Escort.  Their have been many times I have just simply payed for services having no idea if the price was fair or if I was getting screwed over by some jerk who figures I would never know they difference, and of course there have been times when I just though to myself, How could this cost so much. Here's a few tips to make sure your not getting ripped of by your mechanic.

1) Ask ALOT of questions, make sure you know exactly what parts and type of labor your car will need.

2) If possible, wait there while the repairs are being made, this makes it harder for them to charge you for unnecessary repairs.

3) Request to see the part that is causing the problem and have them tell you why it is causing a problem to insure that they can't just clean up the old part and pass it off as new or install a new part that didn't even have a problem to begin with.

4) Do your research ,If you know whats wrong with your car, you should know how much you should expect to pay for parts and labor before you walk in the door, sites like repairpal.com make this very easy.

5) Shop around, I find that estimates can vary by hundreds of dollars depending on where I am, but also remember you get what you pay for so don't always jump at the cheapest price, alternatively don't be stupid enough to go with the highest estimate either, shoot for the middle.

DIY DISINFECTANT WIPES

This is an easy and cheap way to have the convenience of disinfectant wipes with out the cost

1) 1/2 Cup of Bleach (or Mr. Clean,Pine-sol, Vinegar if your green like that, or anything that kills at least 99.9% of germs)

2)1/2 Cup of Water

3)1/2 a roll of BOUNTY or similar quality paper towels (cheap ones will turn to mush)

4)Empty plastic coffee container or basically anything that will hold them

Cut the roll of paper towels in half, put half away for your next batch. Combine bleach and water in small sauce pan and boil. Put Paper towel half in container. Pour mixture over paper towels, let sit overnight or for at least 4 hours. Slowly pull out the cardboard inner tube and the center paper towel up for easy dispensing. Grab your wipes from the middle and use!

Hollow book trinket tray

Obviously I am to old to be hiding my stash in a hallow book, but if you make one of these out of a beautiful old atlas or something of the likes it would look very handsome and interesting sitting on your coffee or end table as a catch-all (trinket tray, key butler, vide poche, whatever term you use for it, its just a tray or bowl you empty your pockets into when you get home)

5 Types of Girls to Avoid

This is an incomplete list in absolutely no order of the types of girls to avoid when looking for a relationship.

Girls who claim to be "crazy" , but do not see a psychiatrist or take meds
People who refuse treatment don't belive that they have a mental disorder, if a girl brags or blames her rage on a psychiatric disorder its due to her being immature and seeking attention. If a girl has a legitimate disorder she is find to date, just make sure you understand her condition before hand.

Girls who drink to much
There is nothing wrong with a girl that likes to have fun, but girls who drink/drug every chance they get will leave you the minute something (or someone) else seems more fun.

Self proclaimed "Gamer Girls"
This goes for girls that are overly enthusiastic about anything that is typically a guy thing especially if they chose to define themselves by it. They are doing this for no other reason than to attract male attention, because they know that their personality is shit. Do note there is a big difference between "Gamer Girls" and girls who game.

Girls in a completely different stage of their life than you
Its better to choose to date someone who is in a similar stage of their life than you, if not , you will both have to make a lot of sacrifices to make things work, and if it doesn't work out in the end it was all for nothing.

Girls who hook up
You know who I am talking about and you know why you shouldn't date them. As hard as it is to resist you have to keep it in your head, If it is this easy for you, it is this easy for everyone else.

Please feel free to comment and add to this list.

How to handle being arrested

REMEMBER YOUR RIGHTS:

- You have the right to remain silent. If you wish to exercise that right, say so out loud.
- You have the right to refuse to consent to a search of yourself, your car or your home.
- If you are not under arrest, you have the right to calmly leave.
- You have the right to a lawyer if you are arrested. Ask for one immediately.
- Regardless of your immigration or citizenship status, you have constitutional rights.

THINGS TO DO:

- Do stay calm and be polite.
- Do not interfere with or obstruct the police.
- Do not lie or give false documents.
- Do prepare yourself and your family in case you are arrested.
- Do remember the details of the encounter.
- Do file a written complaint or call your local ACLU if you feel your rights have been violated.

Being arrested can be very stressful for you (especially if you feel you are being arrested for something you should not be), but always remember to keep come and let the police officers do their job, acting out will only get you in more trouble.

For those of you "Computer People"

Handing this out could save you a lot of time expecially if your parents were born before the the rise of the internet, sometimes they just don't get it. I remember when I was about 7 I had an uncle call the police because he had a virus. HAH. It's so much funnier now when I think about it.

In honor of the Desean Jackson head injury

a refresher on the recovery position.

This is the position you need to put your friends into if they are knocked unconscious or if they are just way to drunk, that way if they do happen to vomit, they will not choke on it and die.

How to pick the best airplane seat

When I was younger there was no such thing as picking your airline seat. You just got that seat that goes along with your ticket, Now with the innovations of e tickets and online payments its common practice to let us costumers pick our preferred seat. This chart is great to find your optimal seats based on what you want to do while you are flying. For the most part I agree with all of them.

Make your own Febreze

With the cold months storming in, and it inevitably being time to shut the windows and doors and turn on your heat, It's been my experience without that constant flow of fresh air that your home can get a wee bit odorous.

OK it can get down right stinky! Especially if you share your home with a big dumb boxer and a love for backyard campfires.

With the state of the economy and heat costing well over a Bagillionzillion dollars a month. I try to save every penny I can. I love the fresh scent Febreze leaves , but it cost more than 5 dollars PER BOTTLE. I have been using this cheap alternative for months now and I can say it works just as good.

What You Need:
1/3 cup White Vinegar
1/2 cup Liquid Fabric Softener
3 cups Water
Spray Bottle

Combine all ingredients in the spray bottle and shake!
Vinegar is a great deodorize, use more or less depending on your needs and don't worry the vinegary smell dissipates very quickly leaving nothing but the nice fabric softener scent.

How to tell time with the sun

How to order espresso

I am sure a lot of people already know these, but I am admittedly coffee illiterate, and its always a nice thing to know what your ordering when you get sent out on a coffee run.

I honestly just prefer drip coffee with a touch of milk and sugar.

Make a burner from pop cans.

I do this just about every time I go camping, works great for eggs and such in the morning.
