Top 3 Casual Sneakers That Will Never Go Out of Style

Good old Chuck Taylor's.  If I had to define America by a shoe, Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars would easily be that shoe. No other shoe has ever been so diverse, you can find them on senior citizens, break dancers, hipsters, young people, old people, geeks, elitists, teachers, punk rockers, jocks, and everyone in between.  They come in a massive variety of colors and  patterns to suit anybody's style, from laid back professional to grungy rocker.

Adidas Superstars are classic.  Keep them white and clean and there is nothing you cannot wear them with.  Everyone from John Cusack to Lil BowWow can be seen sporting these and that's no surprise considering its universally iconic and minimalistic style.

The Puma Suede like the other shoes that made my list are incredibly diverse.  All these shoes have been around the block more than a few times and still held there own and I have have every reason to think that these shoes will never go out of style.  Fads may come and go, but these shoes are timeless.

North Korea shells South Korean island

This could be it guys , better get ready

"A witness said residents of the island of Yeonpyeong, off the west coast of the peninsula near a disputed maritime border, had been evacuated.
Yonhap news agency said four South Korean soldiers had been wounded in the shelling, the biggest attack in years.
YTN television quoted a witness as saying 60 to 70 houses were on fire after the shelling and TV footage showed plumes of smoke coming from the island. It said a South Korean fighter jet had been deployed to the west coast after the shelling.
"Houses and mountains are on fire and people are evacuating. You can't see very well because of plumes of smoke," a witness on the island told YTN.
"People are frightened to death and shelling continues as we speak," the witness said.
News of the exchange of fire sent the won tumbling in offshore markets with the 1-month won down in NDF trading.
The impact was felt internationally, with U.S. 10-year Treasury futures rising and the Japanese yen falling.
South Korea's military confirmed the exchange of firing, without providing more details.
The attack comes just as a U.S. envoy is traveling to the region after revelations that the North is moving ahead with uranium enrichment, a possible second path to manufacture material for atomic weapons."

4 reasons to use tire chains this year

So I was out and about today, picking up a few odds and ends at my local Wallyworld, when I saw the seasonal display of artificial Christmas tree's prequipped with lights and ornaments, all thoughtfully arranged and accented with tinsel and beautifully designed to give you that feeling of semi-synthetic holiday cheer. At that moment It hit me abruptly like a brick in the face, winter is coming.

The feeling of dread rushed through my body as If I had just shot an IV full of tiny shards of glass in the biggest vain in my neck.  Now please don't take me for a Grinch, I love the holidays, honestly I am festive like a mofo, I just would like them to occur during a warmer time of the year.  Winter means chapped lipped, dry skin, heating bills, snow shoveling, bitterly cold morning ( which are always coldest when you have to get straight out of bet), congestion, missing gloves, and most terribly winter driving.

Tire chains are just what they sound like, metal linked chains affixed to the tires of vehicles in order to provide traction when driving through snow and ice and are a great alternative to snow tires and in my opinion are the better option for winter conditions for several reasons:
  1. Cost :Tire chains can cost anywhere from 30 to 150 dollars a set where snow tires start at around 65 and could cost your well into a few hundred dollars.
  2. Convenience: Its either gonna cost you a pretty penny or a few hours to install snow tires while decent quality tire chains ( like the Grip pictured at the begging of the this post ) can be installed in just a few moments, meaning you can take them on and off when needed.
  3. Portability: Tire chains can be stored in your glove box or trunk easily they hardly take up any room, making them easy to always have on hand .
  4. Better Traction in deeper snow, which is great if you live in a community like mine, where roads are not cleared right away if at all.

Tips on buying concert tickets

Here are a few tips of buying concert or sports event tickets

  1. If possible always buy your tickets at the box office , this way you will avoid any other fees that websites and ticket brokers will tack on.
  2. If your buying tickets online make sure the company you are buying them from is legit you don't want to get scammed on your Chicago Bull tickets.
  3. If you miss out on buying tickets check with the box office, a lot of times tickets are bought in groups and people have to return a few, its a long shot , but you may just get your Utah Jazz tickets that way.
  4. Check for group rates, if you have a party of 15 or 20 people going to see the Detriot Pistons, you will probaly get a discount on each ticket.
  5. Try to avoid using ticket brokers at all cost, they are in the business of supply and demand and will up charge ridiculously when tickets become unavailable for your Miami Heat tickets.
  6. If buying tickets on ebay, always make sure the check the sellers comments and ratings.
  7. I highly suggest not buying event tickets on craiglist, but if you do , make sure you have all the sellers contact info (Name, phone number (try and use this to get his address),facebook page, hopes and dreams, ect) this way if the deal goes sour or the tickets are not legit , you could try and pursue further action against him/her.

Speed Reading Tips

The internet is more popular and necessary now than ever, unlimited resources and information growing exponentially every second, its a beautiful thing really.  The benefits and possibilities are almost limitless.  It has entirely changed the way people learn, communicate and entertain themselves, in ways only dreamed of before.  We may not have flying cars or live in outer space, but we are living in a world The Jetson's couldn't even compare to.

With all this information available to us right in our living room or bedroom or even through or mobile phone or netbook it is more important than ever to be able to read and comprehend quickly because 90% of the internet is comprised of text.  Speed Reading is no doubt an invaluable skill that should be developed and constantly improved, even for those of us who just want to sort through our email.

Here are a few tips

  1. Time yourself - this doesn't have to be an official time just take not of how long it takes you to read maybe 1 page or so of text just so you can know if you are improving or not.
  2. Stop reading outloud or saying the words in your head, its a waste of time and once you stop doing it, you will see that you still comprehend just as much.
  3. Get rid of distractions
  4. Try not to reread, most people get in the habit of going back and rereading sentences to make sure they understood what they said, this is usually unnecessary and the further content of what you are reading will help you memory decide what you had read. Only reread sentences or passages when absolutely necessary.
  5. PRACTICE, speed reading is a skill that must be trained and developed. This can be achieved through speed reading software, reading novels, or even just be reading blogs such as this one, just try to focus on reading quickly and digesting the information (there is no point of reading faster than you can comprehend).
